In late 1944, there were rumors swirling around that Auschwitz was not work camp but a death camp.

The Red Cross investigated this claim and found “no trace of installations for exterminating civilian prisoners.”

The Red Cross inspectors visited all of these camps regularly. NOT A SINGLE TIME was it reported that ANY atrocities or prisoner mistreatment was happening at all. All the deaths were caused by typhus or starvation in the very last months when the allies cut off food supplies.
